About
the Artist
Nixon (Nick) Galloway, ASAA is an experienced professional who is
well known for the broad scope of work he has produced for corporations
and more recently, the prints and the paintings he has created for
galleries and individual commissions. He has an extensive background
in aviation and over fifty years experience as an artist.
For many of those years he worked as a freelance illustrator with
clients such as Boeing, Hughes, NASA, Northrop, Allied Signal, American,
Hawaiian, Continental and United Airlines. Two notable series that
you may have seen were the UNITED AIRLINES COLLECTOR SERIES (42
paintings) and the WINGS OF AGRICULTURE calendars. (60 paintings
on the history of crop-dusting). He has been President of the Society
of Illustrators of Los Angeles, and is a graduate of Art Center
College of Design.
His paintings are held in many private collections and have been
exhibited at the Air Force Museum, Smithsonian Air & Space Museum,
Kennedy Space Center, EAA Museum, RAF Museum in London, and the
White House. In 1999 he had a one-man show in Savannah with over
fifty of his paintings on display, some done as long as forty years
ago. Last year Mr. Galloway had a one-man show at the C.R. Smith
Museum in Dallas. He is an Artist Fellow member and a past president
of the American Society of Aviation Artists. When not working in
his studio, he can often be found on the ski slopes, or racing his
sailboat in Southern California waters.
Nick passed away on January 27, 2003 from cancer just two days after
his 76th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
